The Last Ten Seconds of Life are just as instrumentally tight as they have always been, but Soulless Hymns sees them infinitely more focused and exponentially more energetic. The songs is pretty solid and I can see why it became so popular as it is very, very catchy. Unlike the higher tempo hostility of their previous releases, though, Soulless Hymns finds the four-piece taking a noticeably more measured approach to their assault this time around. None of this should work. In the end though, Strope is still crushing his lows and mids, where he gets the right amounts of clarity and brutality in every song written. In all honesty, this is definitely my favorite album of 2015; the songs slam, groove, and chug with plenty of nasty low vocals produced by Storm Strope. One foot in the grave. The shrieking guitar in the introduction and the lyrics are primarily responsible for this.
