Twists Turns Intrigue I liked this third book as much as the first, and that is saying quite a bit.

Destroyer (Expansion Wars Trilogy, #3) by Joshua Dalzelle

joshua dalzelle expansion wars trilogy book 3

Captain Jackson Wolfe has been given the fleet's newest, most advanced destroyer and tasked with eliminating this new threat before it can claim any more human lives. What he finds, however, is immeasurably more dangerous than just some new class of starship … it's a horror that could lead to the destruction of both their species if it isn't stopped. Good job Josh Fell flat, and rushed. Captain Jackson Wolfe has been given the fleet's newest, most advanced destroyer and tasked with eliminating this new threat before it can claim any more human lives. Is the story better for having read the first tow books, definitely, but you don't nee to have read them to understand and enjoy what is going on. What he finds, however, is immeasurably more dangerous than just some new class of starship … it's a horror that could lead to the destruction of both their species if it isn't stopped. Violent, deadly uprisings are breaking out, seemingly at random, all across the Confederation's sphere of influence.

But as he reflects on his time with Omega Force, he begins to have his doubts. The story was kind of blasé to be honest. This is another outstanding Sci-Fi thriller, and I can only hope that Dalzelle will continue to develop the series and give us another trilogy. The conclusion to the expansion wars trilogy, see's Jackson Wolfe taking on the Darshik ship codenamed Spector. A relentless enemy… An old wolf's last hunt… The future of two species hanging in the balance… The Darshik war machine is flagging, but the war is far from over. The story is a good blend of drama and action.

And having said that, I worry the author may try too hard to sell the lead character s and only further ruin the series in the process. What he finds, however, is immeasurably more dangerous than just some new class of starship. Even as an exhausted Federation military tenses up for a counterattack after repelling the last Darshik invasion, reports are coming in of a new, more powerful class of ship that's striking deep into Terran space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. I read this with my Kindle Unlimited subscription vs. But now Jason's greatest fear is realized, and a fleet of alien ships has attacked his planet.

I think he had a out as much kills in the carrier in the last book as he did in the destroyer in the Fell flat, and rushed. I cared about the captain and thought he really improvised some great strategies. For years Jason Burke has straddled that line as best he can, always convinced that despite the violence carried out by him and his team they were firmly on the right side of that line. Even as an exhausted Federation military tenses up for a counterattack after repelling the last Darshik invasion, reports are coming in of a new, more powerful class of ship that's striking deep into Terran space. It is a rare thing in this age of independent authors cranking out trilogy after trilogy, or endless series of books to find a third book on a trilogy that can stand on its own. The Phage War had been a devastating conflict for the Terran Confederacy. This is a brilliant story, of a Captain, returning to the chair of a Warship, surrounded by crew that are not just loyal to him, but idolise him.

Looking forward to the next one. The response by the powerful Confederation Fleet has been swift and decisive, but for every planet they restore order to, another erupts into chaos. Love the series and I am at the end of the third book. The Darshik war machine is flagging, but the war is far from over. With no other options left, and before they can be stopped by a weak government, Wolfe is unleashed with the newest class of Destroyer to seek and destroy this threat permanently. Great three part series that really tied the events of the first series together.

Book Review: Destroyer (Expansion Wars Trilogy, Book 3) by Joshua Dalzelle

joshua dalzelle expansion wars trilogy book 3

The enigmatic Darshik have landed troops on a frontier world and have begun subduing major cities even as their blockade repels all attempts by the fledgling United Terran Federation to mount a counteroffensive. One member of the small mercenary crew is not who he claims to be, however. Ever since he joined Omega Force, Captain Jason Burke has lived with the underlying fear that one day Earth would be discovered. The enemy was too powerful, too numerous, and utterly determined to exterminate humanity. A great finish to the career of Captain Jackson Wolfe.
